Position Overview

Tempus is seeking a high-performing and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) specializing in Neuropsychiatry. This role is crucial for supporting the commercial, research, and educational objectives of the company. The ideal candidate will be a field-based MSL with a strong clinical and scientific background in psychiatry genomic testing and excellent communication skills. This position requires approximately 50% travel.

Responsibilities

• Medical Affairs Expertise: Develop, maintain, and function as an expert on Tempus' neuropsychiatry (nP) test offerings, including regular interpretation and medical consultation with ordering clinicians.
• Sales Team Support: Act as a regional expert for Tempus nP test offerings, promoting the exchange of clinical, scientific, and technical information with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other physicians in the mental health/psychiatry field.
• Healthcare Provider Education: Facilitate education for a broad healthcare provider community (KOLs, community physicians, medical directors, and other HCPs) regarding Tempus nP products through in-person or webinar-based presentations. This includes proactive and reactive communication of validated scientific data.
• Internal Education Gap Identification: Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to identify and address educational gaps within internal teams.
• Conference Engagement: Attend conferences and key meetings, providing comprehensive synopses and summaries of high-impact abstracts, posters, and oral presentations.
• Market Intelligence: Continuously update internal stakeholders on relevant medical and scientific knowledge and proactively develop market intelligence on existing competitor products and products in development.

Requirements

• Pharmacogenetic Testing Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of the field of Pharmacogenetic testing (PGx) and related patient management assessments.
• KOL Relationships: Existing psychiatry KOL portfolio or experience is preferred, but not required.
• Communication Skills:
  • Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to effectively communicate relevant scientific topics and concepts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong inter- and intradepartmental management skills.
  • Ability to educate and train.
• Work Ethic: Self-starter with an ownership mindset, capable of working and delivering on tight timelines.
• Travel: Ability to travel up to 50%.

Education and Experience

• Degree: Scientific or medical degree (e.g., APRN, PA, MSN, BSN, MD/DO, PharmD).
• Psychiatry/Mental Health: Basic understanding of psychiatry/mental health is required.
• Molecular Testing: Basic understanding of molecular testing is strongly preferred.
• MSL Experience: 1+ years of MSL experience in the diagnostics, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
• Clinical Experience: Some clinical experience is preferred (e.g., experience seeing patients in a clinical setting, experience with clinical documentation, clinic operations, etc.).
