Requirements

  • In the process of obtaining a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in a related engineering discipline (preferred: Materials Science & Engineering, Structural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong technical writing abilities
  • Good communication skills
  • Hands-on experience working in a lab environment
  • Willingness to work hands-on with testing and test coupon fabrication
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new tasks without prior experience
  • Passion for learning about new materials, new testing techniques, and aviation
  • Preferred: Internship experience
  • Preferred: Experience working in a laboratory or research setting
  • Preferred: Strong technical writing skills

Responsibilities

  • Help author and revise material and process specifications to support Gen 6 aircraft production
  • Write test reports summarizing test data and findings from various M&P test programs
  • Perform mechanical strength testing on test coupons using Instron mechanical test machines
  • Perform thermal analysis testing to determine glass transition temperature and degree of cure for various materials
  • Perform cross-sectional image analysis to determine void content of composite parts
  • Perform layup and curing of composite prepreg laminates
  • Perform bonding for bonded joint test coupons
  • Gain exposure to production environment and help provide analysis used to disposition non-conformances
