Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Material Handler I: 0-3 years of experience; Material Handler II: 3 or more years of experience
  • Prior forklift experience and/or certification preferred
  • Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills, including ability to understand written instructions, record transactions accurately, and perform basic calculations
  • Ability to work in manufacturing plant conditions (indoors with variable temperature, humidity, noise, dirt; limited outdoor exposure)
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials (LPG, solvents, oils, grease, acids, caustics, paints, batteries)
  • Ability to handle a variable work schedule (8-12 hours daily, overtime after 40 hours, some Saturdays, at least 50% of Extra Time)
  • Essential physical functions (medium physical demands): regularly handle items up to 60 pounds from floor to knuckle, pull/push up to 50 pounds, lift up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder, lift up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead; frequent standing, sitting, bending, climbing, elevated work; occasional twisting, squatting, kneeling

Responsibilities

  • Read information from various documents
  • Locate and identify parts in the warehouse
  • Use a forklift, Raymond, or hoist to move or deliver parts and containers
  • Count or use scales to weigh-count parts
  • Use a computer to check the location, inventory, and routing/ordering of parts
  • Perform routine service on forklifts, including filling the propane tank, checking and adding engine oil, cleaning the radiator, and washing the forklift
  • Prepare and process shipping documents
  • Coordinate with carriers and suppliers
  • Track shipments
  • Verify shipping accuracy
  • Ensure timely delivery
  • Handle inventory updates
  • Communicate with customers regarding shipment statuses
  • Maintain records of all shipping activities for compliance and efficiency
