Requirements

  • Forklift/Mule/PIT experience preferred, but not required, as training and certification are provided - required to become forklift certified within 30 days of starting position
  • Basic computer skills to navigate systems and perform data entry
  • Experience with inventory control methods preferred
  • Ability to record information using company-provided forms and procedures
  • Ability to accurately perform math functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
  • Ability to report to work as scheduled and work scheduled hours to meet job expectations, have flexibility to work other jobs, as needed, and work weekends and overtime, as needed
  • Ability to work professionally and respectfully with others while demonstrating positive interpersonal skills, and communicate effectively with all team members and management
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Ability to identify, act with a sense of urgency, and resolve problems/inconsistencies, getting help from management or others, as needed
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net/beard guard, steel-toed boots, and gloves
  • Must be willing and able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 lbs. below the waist, at the waist level, and above the shoulder level
  • Must be willing and able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, stretch, climb, push, pull, and reach above, below, and at shoulder level
  • Must be willing and able to use both arms/hands and legs/feet to operate forklifts or electric pallet and hand jacks
  • Must be willing and able to work while standing or walking on hard floors for a period of up to 8-10 hours/day
  • Must be willing and able to climb up and down stairs/ladders

Responsibilities

  • Loads and ships goods, receives and unloads goods
  • Maintains packaging materials on storage trailers
  • Operates electric or hand jacks, and drives both sit-down and stand-up styles of forklifts
  • Manually changes forklift batteries
  • Performs daily safety inspection of the forklift and reports any problems to the supervisor
  • Keeps the area and floor clean, including the cooler and shipping docks
  • Performs other jobs within the department and provides back-up/breaks to the line puller when necessary
  • Rotates to other jobs in other departments, if needed
  • Accurately completes paperwork and Safety Chain entries
  • Uses EIM handheld and software to ship and receive goods
  • Responsible for safety, including but not limited to personal safety and food safety
  • Complies with all company and USDA policies/guidelines and reports known or suspected violations
  • Attends monthly and annual required training (e.g., Safety, HACCP, HR topics, LOTO, PIT)
  • Performs other duties, as assigned
