Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in a microbiological (or related) subject
  • Industrial experience in the same fields will be considered
  • Some experience in a microbiology laboratory and as an end user of Oxoid products would be of benefit
  • Handle class 2 (and 3, depending on vaccination status) microorganisms and hazardous chemicals in a safe manner
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work alone with minimal mentorship

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory investigation of technical projects e.g. raw material qualification, Incidents/CAPAs/QNs
  • Execution of small projects in accordance with agreed schedules
  • Collaboration with cross departmental colleagues to drive effective resolutions to technical issues
  • Report writing and presentation of results
  • Plans their own work within the boundaries of a project, with the assistance of Senior Scientists and Supervisor
  • Work on several projects simultaneously and balance changing needs
  • Recommend appropriate actions relating to project issues
  • Problem solving, fixing routine methods, interpreting unexpected results, highlight solutions to problems (some expectation outside own team)
  • Influence customers (internal and external) with data to prove valid theories
  • Perform both bench work and project management tasks
