Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working in the food manufacturing industry
  • 4 years of experience working as an experienced level maintenance mechanic (totaling minimum 5 years in related jobs)
  • Able to work rotating 12-hour night shifts (6p-6:30am, 2-2-3 schedule) including weekends, some overtime, and occasionally flexible schedule
  • Possess a full complement of necessary hand and power tools, including professional electrical tools (voltmeter, amp meter)
  • Knowledge of food grade aluminum and stainless-steel welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Acetylene)
  • Complete knowledge of fabrication techniques
  • Complete knowledge of all tools for industrial maintenance (broach, mill, lathe)
  • Electrical knowledge, including reading schematics, identifying motor frame/power load/amp draw, control/main power, soldering techniques
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and water systems, mechanical and pneumatic processes (cylinders, glue machines, date coders)
  • Ability to identify and understand lubricants (chain lube to high-performance synthetic)
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications, schematics, quality documents, safety rules
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, triage, and be self-motivated in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate safety issues and relay information to coworkers
  • PLC experience (plus)
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment (assembly, conveyors, forming, mixing; oven operations a plus)
  • Follow work instructions, OSHA safety rules, use PPE and safety equipment
  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, detect defective items, test, and adjust high-speed production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all electrical functions
  • Prioritize and triage in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain equipment per diagrams, manufacturer specifications, preventative maintenance work orders, and scheduled PMs
  • Generate work orders and parts requests
  • Use machine shop and related machines to repair parts or fabricate modifications
  • Complete work orders, PMs, and related documentation
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other appropriate equipment
  • Maintain current GMP, Safety, Food Safety, and technical knowledge through training
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, Local Government)
