Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Foundry Engineering, Metallurgy or a related field plus 2 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in the foundry industry or related occupation
  • Alternatively, 6 years of experience as Manufacturing Engineer in the foundry industry or related occupation
  • Employment experience with: (1) AUTO CAD/Creo; (2) GD&T Print Reading; (3) Cycle Time and Capacity Planning; and (4) Advance Product Quality Planning

Responsibilities

  • Support and guide production, costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines, and environmental requirements for foundry manufacturing processes
  • Act as engine cylinder head manufacturing process expert including molding, pouring, blast, chip and grind, and heat treat
  • Implement safety improvements and work with operations and safety teams to meet and exceed OSHA guidelines, reduce injuries, and perform safety inspections
  • Classify foundry defects for castings and work with simulation team to determine and sample solutions
  • Write, maintain, and update processes for employees to properly and safely complete tasks
  • Work with operations team to improve throughput of the line, support line, and create processes to decrease cycle time
  • Decrease costs by reducing scrap costs, improve part yields, or reduce prices
  • Identify and implement enhancements and modifications to equipment and processes
  • Monitor equipment and process reliability
  • Analyze engineering change notices, determine part/process changes, initiate and implement changes
  • Provide engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities
  • Discuss considerations for work cell design and effectiveness monitoring
  • Find solutions for key technical and people problems associated with transformation/implementation of lean; select and utilize tools, techniques and measurements for lean assessment; explain benchmarks and measures of effectiveness
  • Perform routine maintenance: cleaning, replacing defective/worn parts
  • Perform basic care and safety considerations for manufacturing equipment
  • Set up new machines and testing; use diagnostic tools and techniques; resolve common problems
  • Conduct routine inspections; check machine performance and equipment safeguards; report standards violations; advise others
  • Develop best practices documentation and train others on major tasks for full manufacturing process
  • Measure and monitor new processes and technologies; select and optimize methodologies
  • Consult on new tools and techniques for safety protection
  • Design and implement emergency response processes and procedures
  • Promote workplace safety and communicate safety rules and regulations
  • Ensure employees and contractors comply with safety policies and regulations
  • Consult on development and implementation of cross-functional standards
  • Develop organizational policies and practices; develop and use control and monitoring mechanisms for adherence
  • Define architectural principles and standards
  • Monitor problem resolution and provide feedback to customer
  • Work with features of problem reporting and tracking software
