Requirements

Candidates must possess a B.S. or higher degree in Engineering or Science, including fields such as Robotics, Computer Science, Aerospace, Automotive, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering. They should have a minimum of 8 years of experience with complex safety-related systems, including at least 2 years in a safety management role and 2 years of team management experience. Strong technical skills in functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and experience with risk evaluation and management principles are essential. Proficiency in requirements management tools like Polarion and hands-on experience with safety analysis techniques such as HARA, FMEA, and FTA are required. Expertise in ISO 26262 applications and a proven track record of launching products or delivering technology to customers are also necessary.

Responsibilities

The manager will lead, manage, and grow a team of Systems Engineers specializing in hardware and software algorithms related to sensing, perception, localization, and high-performance compute. They will solve complex technical problems to enhance Zoox's safety case and define, improve, review, and approve safety requirements and architecture while tailoring relevant safety standards. The role involves formulating, simulating, and supporting the prototyping of new solutions, as well as collaborating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to characterize components and develop safe, pragmatic solutions.
