Requirements

  • Satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing, and pre-employment physical
  • Possess a current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
  • High School graduate plus one to two years of additional education in electrical and/or instrumentation schools
  • Two to five years field experience in Instrument/Electrical Field
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch; regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to respond to audible emergency alarms and evacuate when required

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain switchgear and electrical power distribution equipment up to 13.8kV
  • Perform switching and coordinate with Electric Utility and contractors for maintenance on electrical systems up to 230kV
  • Repair and inspect high/low voltage electrical wiring and systems
  • Perform periodic substation equipment inspections and meter readings
  • Connect, disconnect, and troubleshoot electric motors and motor starters
  • Install, program, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives
  • Maintain and troubleshoot UPS and Battery systems
  • Remove, install, and replace electrical lighting and fixtures
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, etc., pipe, conduit, and tubing
  • Follow electrical safe work practices in accordance with NFPA 70E
  • Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Support Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence, including reviewing areas of responsibility for improvement opportunities, initiating projects, communicating ideas to management, and participating on project teams
  • Perform any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned
