Requirements

  • Successfully completed an approved mechanical apprenticeship program or possess extensive experience in the mechanical repair of machine tools and related equipment
  • Ability to mechanically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools (e.g., Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis grinders, Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, DMG) and related equipment (e.g., P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, washers, ABB robots)
  • Ability to install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, ball screws, precision bearings, scraping principles, and a variety of controllers
  • Ability to read and understand machine tool prints and work with tight tolerances
  • Thorough understanding of leveling and alignment of machines, alignment of shafts, gearing, welding, lubrication principles, pipefitting, and tube bending
  • Basic electrical skills and ability to operate basic tools to complete machine repairs
  • Self-starter and self-motivated, works well individually and in a team environment
  • Willing to work overtime to support production demands
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, medium to heavy duty assembly technical environment, including frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, standing on concrete for 8+ hours, lifting 40 pounds, repetitive hand movements with tooling, and working in heights and confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Mechanically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment that perform milling, drilling, and grinding functions to cast iron and steel components
  • Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, ball screws, precision bearings, scraping principles, and controllers on machines
  • Read and interpret machine tool prints while working with tight tolerances
  • Perform leveling and alignment of machines, shaft and gearing alignments, welding, lubrication, pipefitting, and tube bending
  • Use basic electrical skills and tools to complete machine repairs
  • Work individually and in a team to support production, including overtime as needed
