Requirements

  • High School or Vocational School Diploma and/or GED required
  • 0-2 years of related production experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic math skills
  • Understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers)
  • Good communication skills, including ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (some machining experience is a plus)
  • Ability to use fork trucks, overhead cranes, hand carts, and hand tools; capable of obtaining fork truck license, overhead crane license, and lockout/tagout certification
  • Export compliance eligibility (U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee, national of non-prohibited country, or approved for export license)

Responsibilities

  • Sands or grinds rolled materials to remove surface imperfections and meet product specifications (including Class 1 requirements)
  • Sets up and operates leveling equipment
  • Sets up and operates shears to ensure final product meets required dimensional specs
  • Sets up and operates cleaning equipment for all intermediate and finish products
  • Follows standard operating procedures in operation of power tools and production equipment to manufacture plate, sheet, and tubing products
  • Improves surface condition of rolled products by sanding and/or grinding
  • Follows good safety practices, complies with PPE requirements, and follows environmental policies
  • Understands specifications and uses measuring instruments (with assistance)
  • Recognizes problems and seeks assistance to resolve them
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly way and follows 5S standard work practices
