Requirements

High School or Vocational School Diploma and/or GED required
0-2 years of related production experience in a manufacturing environment
Basic math skills
Understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers)
Good communication skills, including ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (some machining experience is a plus)
Ability to use fork trucks, overhead cranes, hand carts, and hand tools; capable of obtaining fork truck license, overhead crane license, and lockout/tagout certification
Export compliance eligibility (U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee, national of non-prohibited country, or approved for export license)

Responsibilities

Sands or grinds rolled materials to remove surface imperfections and meet product specifications (including Class 1 requirements)
Sets up and operates leveling equipment
Sets up and operates shears to ensure final product meets required dimensional specs
Sets up and operates cleaning equipment for all intermediate and finish products
Follows standard operating procedures in operation of power tools and production equipment to manufacture plate, sheet, and tubing products
Improves surface condition of rolled products by sanding and/or grinding
Follows good safety practices, complies with PPE requirements, and follows environmental policies
Understands specifications and uses measuring instruments (with assistance)
Recognizes problems and seeks assistance to resolve them
Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly way and follows 5S standard work practices
