Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance, removal, and inspection of underground facilities, conductors, fixtures, structures, and equipment on de-energized and grounded overhead and underground facilities under direct or immediate supervision
Demonstrate ability to perform ground person duties under immediate or direct supervision
Assist with loading, unloading, handling, maintaining, installing, and removing poles, towers, and structures
After D-100 or equivalent: Demonstrate ability to operate Company equipment (except digger/derricks and aerial lift vehicles), climb poles/ladders/structures, work on de-energized conductors/equipment, and work on energized conductors/equipment up to 260 volts under direct supervision
After D-200 or equivalent: Operate digger/derrick and aerial devices under immediate supervision; work on energized conductors/equipment up to 260 volts under immediate supervision of higher classification; operate cutouts, line switches, reclosers, and sectionalizing devices under direct supervision (progressing to immediate/general as skills dictate)
Assemble and install line material and hardware under direct or immediate supervision
Use and store hand lines, tie knots, and demonstrate basic knowledge of ropes and rigging equipment inspection/use
Splice primary and secondary overhead wires using proper tools, hardware, and equipment (including crimping/compression tools)
After D-300 or equivalent: Test de-energized overhead lines/equipment and install/remove personal protective grounds under immediate supervision
Safely execute pole top rescue and bucket truck rescue as training is completed
Drive and operate line trucks and associated auxiliary equipment
Responsibilities
Inspect and maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion
Identify, inspect, use, and maintain rubber gloves, sleeves (PIPE), insulating blankets, hoses, and covers (IPE)
Inspect, maintain, organize, operate, and stock company vehicles, equipment, and tools
Perform housekeeping duties as assigned
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions
Protect or control work area: set/remove barricades, flags, signs, cones, and associated equipment
Maintain accurate records and submit accurate reports as required
Correctly read and record information/readings on analog or digital kilowatt-hour meters
Complete monthly apprentice cards and submit to local supervision
