Candidates should possess a college degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for prior underwriting, insurance, or administrative experience. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to analyze data and apply underwriting guidelines are essential. Effective communication, the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) are also required.
The Life Insurance Underwriter will review life rider applications, reinstatements, and perform other administrative underwriting functions, evaluating risk and making decisions within established guidelines. This includes reviewing policy information, ordering vendor inquiries, evaluating risk using various data sources, and generating appropriate communication letters. The role also involves supporting agent license reviews, managing the underwriting email box, processing EFTs, and responding to underwriting requests, while maintaining accurate case file documentation and system updates.
