Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
  • Experience working as an LVT in an ER hospital setting or 2+ years general practice LVT experience
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships

Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential duties of a Veterinary Technician
  • Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
  • Provide support to all veterinarians, often assisting more than one on your shift
  • Provide diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients
  • Perform basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing (e.g., blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling, free catch urine)
  • Perform various laboratory procedures (e.g., blood typing, cross matching, slide agglutination testing)
  • Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiographs while following radiation safety protocols
  • Properly use and maintain medical equipment
  • Provide professional client communication
  • Help keep hospital areas clean and neat, maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Maintain client and patient confidentiality
  • Meet or exceed performance standards for work quality and productivity
  • Meet or exceed VECC expectations for attendance and punctuality
  • Act as an ambassador of VECC, displaying consideration, courtesy, compassion, and professionalism
