Requirements

  • Deep understanding of F2P mobile game economies, player progression systems, and retention strategies
  • Proven experience using analytics and A/B testing to make data-driven design decisions (portfolio should demonstrate process, such as balancing spreadsheets, difficulty modeling, or case studies of data-informed improvements)
  • Systems-thinking approach; ability to articulate how a new mechanic or level element impacts game balance, the economy, and player psychology on a systemic level
  • Strong experience or deep knowledge of Tower (likely Tower Defense mechanics, based on context)

Responsibilities

  • Balance the game's long-term difficulty curve across chapters, missions, and waves to manage player pacing, challenge, and skill progression
  • Own the player's content journey from a holistic perspective, defining how and when new mechanics, enemies, and interactive elements are introduced to maintain long-term interest
  • Document level designs using diagrams, flowcharts, and spreadsheets to communicate concepts effectively within the team
  • Collaborate with artists, animators, and programmers to ensure level designs adhere to technical constraints and opportunities of the game engine and are fully realized
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders (General Manager, Game Design Director, Product Managers) to integrate monetization and reward systems into level progression naturally and value-additively
  • Utilize player feedback, analytics, and A/B testing to evaluate level performance, interpret data to identify friction points, re-balance content, and validate design hypotheses
  • Design levels that intuitively teach game mechanics through gameplay, reducing reliance on explicit tutorials and fostering discovery
