Requirements

  • Ability to research transportation shortage, overage, pilferage, and damage receiving exceptions
  • Knowledge of determining carrier liability using receiving documents, delivery documents, carrier contracts, and damage notifications
  • Proficiency with systems such as View Receipts Reports, EPOM, Accounts Payable TAP System, Altair, Open Image, RTS, and Internet
  • Understanding of Target Corporation contracts related to loss and damage
  • Skills in claims research, including locating misships, EDI transmittal errors, unscheduled purchase orders, and distribution center receiving problems
  • Experience in preparing and filing carrier claim documentation accurately and timely
  • Familiarity with databases like FOCUS and FIRM for documenting and entering claims
  • Ability to communicate effectively with carriers, Transportation Service Providers, Accounts Payable, Distribution Centers, Stores, Vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Capability to monitor open claims, create spreadsheets, participate in conference calls, and handle collections, declinations, write-offs, and settlements

Responsibilities

  • Research shortage and damage receiving exceptions to determine carrier versus vendor liability
  • Review claims reporting and identify shortage trends
  • Reconcile Claims database and Claims Receivable Account to the General Ledger
  • Resolve Freight on Hand Notices
  • Notify Transportation Service Providers of shortages and damages per Target Corporation Transportation contracts
  • File carrier claims timely and accurately, document in FOCUS database, enter into FIRM system, and process payments
  • Communicate with carriers and stakeholders to ensure necessary paperwork and resolve open claims
  • Follow up on claims with Transportation Service Providers and Accounts Payable, respond to declinations, monitor open claims statements, and collect payments
  • Create quarterly spreadsheets, participate in conference calls, compile data for write-offs and settlements
  • Develop strong working relationships with Transportation Service Providers, Vendors, Accounts Payable, Asset Protection, Marketing, Distribution Centers, Stores, and Target.com
