Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 6+ years of experience; or equivalent related work experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies (e.g., Helm, ArgoCD, service discovery)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Go - Must have
  • Strong experience in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with deep understanding of IAM, VPC, container services, and networking
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and CI/CD automation (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable, resilient systems used by other engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across levels and disciplines without formal authority

  • Experience contributing to platform strategies during cloud migrations or re-architecture efforts
  • Familiarity with GitOps, platform APIs, and internal developer portal frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the architecture for core platform services including compute orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes or Nomad), service discovery, CI/CD, observability, secrets management, and infrastructure as code
  • Lead complex initiatives that cross team and organizational boundaries, from design through implementation and operationalization
  • Partner with software engineers and architects to deliver platform capabilities that improve developer velocity, system reliability, and security
  • Drive adoption of best practices around platform usage, including automation, testing, and resilience
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence through well-documented, reusable patterns and tools
  • Mentor and coach engineers across teams through design reviews, code pairing, and informal learning sessions
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies that improve our platform’s performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability
  • Act as a technical advisor in incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term reliability planning
