Requirements

  • Ability to support laboratory customers and technical support staff in Microbiology laboratory testing and services
  • Knowledge of equipment preparation, sterilization/depyrogenation, media preparation, general laboratory cleaning, and supply ordering
  • Proficiency in performing sterility testing, bioburden estimation, endotoxin testing, and microbial isolate identification on devices, components, and solutions
  • Experience with validation of new products and test procedures
  • Skills in troubleshooting compromised procedures and determining causes of unexpected test results
  • Capability to perform environmental monitoring, including cleanroom certification (particle counts, viable air, microbial count, gas testing)
  • Accurate documentation, record keeping, and archiving of lab procedures and results
  • Effective communication with technical staff on testing schedules, results, and discoveries
  • Ability to redline documents, provide supporting evidence for changes, and collaborate on updates or new test methods/stations
  • Problem-solving skills for complex issues during testing, equipment/product issues, and investigations
  • Advanced interpretation of defined procedures and practices to solve a wide range of complex problems
  • Ability to select imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions
  • Maintenance of confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Accountability for testing actions/results and adherence to GMP/compliance policies

Responsibilities

  • Support the Microbiology Laboratory: Equipment preparation and sterilization/depyrogenation; Preparation of media; General laboratory cleaning; Preparation of specialty test samples and ordering of supplies
  • Perform Test Procedures: Sterility testing of devices and components; Bioburden estimation of devices, components, and solutions; Endotoxin testing of devices, components, and solutions; Identification of microbial isolates
  • Perform validations of new products and test procedures
  • Troubleshoot compromised procedures to determine causes of unexpected routine test results
  • Perform Environmental Monitoring: Certification testing of cleanrooms (particle counts, viable air, microbial count, gas testing)
  • Document laboratory procedures: Accurate record keeping of procedures performed and results; Archiving of lab records
  • Communicate with technical staff regarding testing schedule information, results, or unanticipated discoveries
  • Redline documents and provide supporting evidence for changes; Collaborate with technical staff on updates
  • Work with support team on new test methods, station updates, or additions
  • Problem solve testing issues and aid support team in investigations; Discuss equipment and product issues
  • Aid in new tooling if needed
  • Maintain accountability for testing actions/results and GMP/compliance
