Requirements

HS diploma, associate degree, or 4-year undergraduate degree in a technical field (desirable)
6 months manufacturing or quality experience, preferably within Sonoco
Ability to walk, stand, or sit for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and other databases)
Analytical, detail-oriented, strong communicator, customer-focused, team player, and self-motivated
Ability to work safely and effectively, demonstrate good housekeeping skills, and lift/move large numbers of samples in production and lab environments
Operate with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Multi-task oriented and able to work under time and budget restraints
Ability to quickly understand concepts behind paper and tube physical/chemical tests, set up/conduct tests, analyze results, draw conclusions, and make reports

Responsibilities

Utilize machinery and equipment including Computers, Instron, Radial Crush Tester, Dynamic Load Tester, TIR Tester, pH meter, Oven, Tape Measure, Moisture Meter, Balances, Weights, Various Types of Saws, Height Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Pi-Tape, and various Paper Testing Machines
Complete routine paper/tube testing, analytical testing, and assignments of substantial variety and complexity
Work safely and effectively in production and lab environments
Demonstrate good housekeeping skills
Lift and move large numbers of samples
Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and other databases for documentation
Report to the Physical Testing Lab Manager
