Knowledge of chemistry principles and practices including analysis, evaluation, and waste processing protocols

Superior knowledge of software packages related to waste streams and reporting
A candidate with no degree must have 3 years of relevant work experience in waste disposal, chemistry, or a related field (typically less than 1 year for those with degree implied)
Responsibilities
Performs preparation techniques and instrumental analysis of environmental samples for organic and inorganic constituents using approved EPA test methods, SOPs, and Work Instructions
Participates in the generation of SOPs and Work Instructions under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager
Prepares samples for laboratory equipment
Utilizes and understands essential functions for instrument sequencing and data processing (including basic instrument maintenance and repairs, analytical standard preparations, and maintaining required documentation accurately)
Validates methods for testing organics and inorganics using various processes and instrumentation
Performs satisfactory Initial Demonstration of Capability (IDOC) prior to data reporting for any method and maintains annual Demonstration of Capability (DOC) for each method
Identifies chemical content of materials and conducts research on appropriate treatment studies
Provides technical knowledge to develop formulas, enhance or create processes and methods for solving technical problems
Maintains a clean and safe work environment
Maintains familiarity with quality control measures and calculations for applicable methods
