Requirements

  • Associate's degree or transcript showing Radiology Technology from a two-year college, technical school, or hospital-based Radiologic Technology program
  • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (RI) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 60 days, or Radiography (R) - ARRT within 60 days, or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 60 days
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

Responsibilities

  • Schedules procedures and appropriate patient preparations, prepares, positions, and instructs patients, and adjusts equipment for procedures
  • Familiar with a wide variety of diagnostic and intervention procedures and oversees/coordinates with nursing staff, scrub techs, and other techs or students throughout exams
  • Produces satisfactory images via digital imaging or hard film and presents them satisfactorily for radiologist interpretation
  • Maintains, orders, and evaluates products used for procedures
  • Demonstrates high level of patient care skills to assist nursing staff with caring for critically ill patients
  • Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Radiology Department, Quality Department, Joint Commission accreditation, OSHA guidelines, and others
  • Monitors all hemodynamics during procedures
  • Understands human vasculature including cerebral circulation and anticipates the needs of the physician for supplies, equipment, and medications while maintaining a sterile environment
  • Performs specialized procedures using sterile techniques and specialized equipment
  • Comprehends and interprets complex clinical subject matter related to the specialty
  • Analyzes data and formulates an appropriate plan of action, demonstrating critical thinking skills
  • Promotes Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
