Requirements

  • Adheres to the Organization’s Compliance Program, including all regulatory and policy requirements
  • Knowledge of interventional radiology procedures, radiological equipment operation, and quality control
  • Ability to maintain sterile technique during procedures
  • Compliance with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality
  • Familiarity with organization’s medication labeling policy for drawing up intravenous medication
  • Skills in processing x-ray images and archiving to repositories (CD/DVD)
  • Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools and practices
  • Ability to perform patient transfers, positioning, shaving, and prepping
  • Proficiency in inputting patient data into C-Arm and administering fluoroscopy
  • Willingness to attend and participate in Governing Body and CQI meetings

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in performing interventional radiology procedures
  • Performs preparation of patient and procedure room, including stocking trays with supplies and equipment
  • Reviews patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials/supplies
  • Cleans procedure room and equipment post-procedure
  • Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and addresses concerns
  • Prepares patient for procedures (positioning, shaving, prepping) and transports to/from room
  • Acts as scrub assistant during procedures, administering fluoroscopy while maintaining sterile technique
  • Draws up and labels intravenous medication per policy
  • Processes and archives x-ray images per policies and regulations
  • Ensures medical records are accurate, complete, and compliant; performs audits
  • Supports quality standards through CQI and regulatory compliance
  • Maintains environmental integrity, cleanliness, and safety of facility
  • Inspects equipment daily, makes recommendations for repairs/replacements
  • Manages inventory, supply organization, and waste disposal to prevent waste
  • Participates in meetings, assists with agendas, data gathering, and training new employees
  • Ensures effective communication with physicians and addresses their concerns
  • Reviews procedures for accurate and timely patient billing, verifying CPT and ICD9 codes
