Responsibilities

  • Supports the Organization’s mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy; adheres to the Compliance Program, including regulatory and policy requirements
  • Assists physicians in performing interventional radiology procedures
  • Operates and performs quality control on radiological equipment per organization policies, procedures, and training
  • Assists with inventory and supply management
  • Performs activities to prepare patient and procedure room for radiology procedures in compliance with policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations
  • Reviews patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials/supplies
  • Sets up/stocks procedure room and trays with supplies and equipment prior to procedure; cleans room and equipment post-procedure
  • Conducts necessary preparations of the patient procedure room and documents appropriately
  • Explains procedure to patient, answers questions, and addresses concerns
  • Assists with preparing patient for procedure (positioning, shaving, prepping)
  • Performs patient transfers and transports to/from procedure room
  • Inputs patient data into the C-Arm
  • Acts as scrub assistant during procedures, administers fluoroscopy to visualize blood vessels while maintaining sterile technique per policies and regulations
  • Complies with HIPAA policies and standards for patient confidentiality
  • Draws up intravenous medication and labels per organization policy
  • Processes x-ray images and archives to repository, CD, or DVD per policies and regulations
  • Provides outstanding patient care by supporting quality standards, regulatory requirements, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
  • Assists with implementing quality goals and facility action plans
  • Ensures medical records are accurate, complete, and compliant; maintains integrity, files paperwork, and performs audits
  • Maintains environmental integrity and aesthetics; ensures areas are clean, sanitary, and safe
  • Inspects equipment daily before/after procedures to ensure proper working condition; makes recommendations for replacements/repairs
  • Assists with disposal of hazardous waste, dirty linen, and rugs
  • Prepares, organizes, and utilizes supplies/equipment efficiently to prevent waste
  • Attends and participates in Governing Body meetings, assisting with agenda and data gathering
  • Ensures effective communication with physicians
  • Attends and participates in CQI meetings, reporting on assigned topics
  • Works with physicians and staff to ensure necessary instruments/equipment are available
  • Addresses physician concerns in areas of responsibility
  • Assists in training and orienting new employees
  • Ensures accurate and timely patient billing by reviewing procedures, documenting equipment charges, and verifying CPT/ICD codes
