Requirements

Pursuing PhD or Master degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related areas (PhD preferred)
Expertise in one or more areas: optical design, modeling, metrology, freeform, metalens, etc
Expertise and experience in coding, data analysis and statistical modeling
Strong publication record demonstrating innovative research (preferred)
Experience in VR AR display and optics (plus)
Experience in meta-surface design and fabrication (plus)
Experience in geometrical optics and wave optics including FDTD, RCWA techniques (plus)
Passionate about building extraordinary products
Good communication skills and presentation skills, able to clearly articulate the problem statements and the solution approach
A willingness to dive deep, experiment rapidly to get things done (preferred)
Innovative and creative, proactively explore new ideas and adapt quickly to change
Daily onsite presence at San Jose, CA headquarters

Responsibilities

Participate in cutting-edge research in VR AR optics and illumination for display related applications
Apply optical design, modeling and measurement expertise to specific design evaluation
Develop solutions for real-world problems
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and mature state-of-the-art technologies
Perform in-depth optical design, simulation and analysis, using tools like Code V, Zemax, LightTools, Lumerical and Rsoft, to provide recommendations for system improvement
Perform optical system design and simulation for rotationally symmetrical optics, freeform, as well as metalens
Determine hardware specifications to assess overall performance of novel optical architectures
Debug and troubleshoot optical problems
Write code to support optical design, simulation and analysis
Report and present results to guide design decisions
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
