Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in multiple modalities including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, ultrafiltration, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and apheresis
  • Supervise and direct Patient Care Technicians and clerical staff; provide direction and education to ICU staff for CRRT
  • Perform direct patient care for assigned patients in inpatient renal replacement and apheresis services using prescribed treatment techniques
  • Assess patients’ responses to treatment, making adjustments and modifications to the treatment plan as indicated by the physician
  • Communicate problems or concerns to the Inpatient Program Manager, physician, hospital primary nurse, and others as needed
  • Deliver safe, effective care in a timely and efficient manner
  • Give organized, concise shift reports for assigned patients
  • Apply high-level thinking to adjust patient schedules based on critical needs from labs, MD orders, or assessments
  • Implement, administer, monitor, and document patient responses to intradialytic transfusions, notifying physician and blood supplier of adverse reactions
  • Collaborate and communicate with physicians and healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and coordinate daily patient care plans
  • Initiate and communicate with FMS facility nursing staff and hospital personnel as needed
  • Accurately document all treatment information in patient records (ACES) and hospital records
  • Clean and disinfect dialysis machine, chair, equipment, and surrounding areas between treatments per policies
  • Conduct all tasks necessary for preparation of dialysis treatment and document appropriately
  • Partner with hospitals to provide quality care and positive patient experience in accordance with company and hospital policies
