Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED)
  • Associates degree with a Technical focus or 18 months of related experience in general industry or successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program
  • Understanding of basic electrical and mechanical systems with ability to perform repairs
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb/balance to heights requiring ladder or lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces, talk or hear; occasionally sit and lift/move more than 50 pounds
  • Close vision and color vision required
  • Tolerance for factory environment: very loud noise, outside weather, risk of electrical shock, hazardous materials, greasy/slippery floors

Responsibilities

  • Performs entry to mid-level break-fix and preventative maintenance, including adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments, repairing or replacing defective parts, and reconditioning or repairing machine tools
  • Identifies needed parts, supplies, and repair items
  • Provides support and backup for other department members as needed by leadership
  • Maintains awareness of Maintenance Industry Standards
  • Assures compliance with 5S and housekeeping standards
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, including processes, results, and cost savings
  • Sets up and operates simple machining operations (e.g., lathe, drill press, grinder, other metalworking tools) to make and repair parts; performs basic welding tasks
  • Updates records and reviews CMMS history
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of control systems circuitry
  • Completes technical self-study programs for career development
  • Follows all safety-related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; maintains situational awareness and identifies unsafe behaviors and conditions
