Responsibilities

Develop and implement the site HSE strategy to enhance the Safety & Health Management System to meet and exceed ISO 45001, internal/external audit requirements, local/national regulations, and Mars Global Safety & Health Standards
Develop and implement the facility’s Environmental Management System and Sustainability Programs to meet and exceed local regulations, ISO 14001, and Mars Global Environmental Standards
Together with stakeholders, set HSE targets and deliver against them
Deploy all company HSE Standards as they apply to the site
Execute all site environmental compliance programs (air, storm water, water, spill control, wastewater) and ensure timely testing per company standards
Manage site hazardous waste activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations/standards
Develop and deploy site-specific HSE programs and plans to position the site as best-in-class
Deliver training and coaching to ensure site associates understand and engage with HSE expectations
Investigate all HSE incidents using specific tools to identify root causes and actions; drive completion of corrective actions, including from other site incidents
Serve as HSE technical expert, providing expertise/coaching in all areas, including capital project reviews and non-capital modification risk management
Ensure the site emergency response team (ERT) has tools, skills, and knowledge for HSE emergencies
Lead efforts to measure and improve Industrial Hygiene risks (ergonomics, dust, noise, chemical exposure); coordinate IH and audiometric monitoring
Own the site Contractor Safety program to reduce risks from construction/trade contractors; ensure project managers manage contractors properly
Own site security requirements to meet corporate standards, including oversight of contract security providers
Manage Risk Management activities for asset conservation and property loss control; drive corrective actions from third-party assessments/audits
Work with third-party risk control experts for compliance on new projects; support audits to maintain/improve insurance ratings
Together with HR, manage worker’s compensation claims and incident follow-through
