Requirements

Background in computer engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or related computer technology
Experience managing a technical staff with expertise in Industry Standard Server, Storage, and Networking products
Experience with certification of major Operating Systems (e.g., Linux: Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE)
Ability to effectively manage diverse test tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, fluid environment
Ability to respond to changing program requirements, updates to product test plans, and compressed schedules while meeting goals
Understanding of new product development and test processes for release to production
Ability to work collaboratively with technical leads, testers, third-party vendors, and engineering managers to design test plans, track issues, and implement solutions
Creative and open-minded leadership to adapt to rapidly evolving AI market and HPE AI product offerings
Experience managing at least 4 employees, typically 8-15 direct reports (team of 20 systems engineers)

Responsibilities

Provide direct and ongoing leadership, operational direction, and mentoring for a team of 20 systems engineers
Manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies
Manage exempt individual contributors and/or supervisors, with accountability for results in terms of cost, direction, and people management
Provide guidance on process improvements and recommend changes aligned with business tactics and strategy
Plan, manage, and monitor operational/tactical activities of staff, including strategic issues
Recruit and support development of direct staff members
Lead team in designing and developing new products, enhancements, updates, and coordinating projects for systems software (e.g., operating systems, compilers, networking)
Coordinate with third-party product vendors and engineering managers to track development issues and implement solutions
