Responsibilities

Assess and record patient condition by monitoring vital signs
Administer treatments by dispensing medications, changing bandages, and administering oxygen supply and equipment
Help patients care for themselves by introducing and teaching assisted living techniques (e.g., using a cane or walker, special utensils to eat, special techniques and equipment for personal hygiene)
Help family members care for the patient by teaching appropriate ways to lift, turn, and re-position the patient
Understand own work area professional concepts/standards, regulations, strategies, and operating standards
Make decisions regarding own work approach/priorities and follow direction
Follow precedent and/or documented procedures/regulations/professional standards with some interpretation
