Responsibilities
- Assess and record patient condition by monitoring vital signs
- Administer treatments by dispensing medications, changing bandages, and administering oxygen supply and equipment
- Help patients care for themselves by introducing and teaching assisted living techniques (e.g., using a cane or walker, special utensils to eat, special techniques and equipment for personal hygiene)
- Help family members care for the patient by teaching appropriate ways to lift, turn, and re-position the patient
- Understand own work area professional concepts/standards, regulations, strategies, and operating standards
- Make decisions regarding own work approach/priorities and follow direction
- Follow precedent and/or documented procedures/regulations/professional standards with some interpretation
