Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2–3 years of experience in a histopathology lab or related discipline
  • ASCP qualification or equivalent, with at least 1 year of experience in a clinical, research, academic, or production lab
  • Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints); physical demands vary; occasional exposure to cold temperatures
  • Proficiency in histology techniques, staining procedures, and use of specialized laboratory equipment
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration with coworkers, managers, and clients

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tissue processing, including paraffin embedding, sectioning, and staining, to support accurate and timely pathological analysis
  • Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists in accordance with established procedures
  • Perform staining techniques to support pathological assessments
  • Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards
  • Assist with process improvements, SOP updates, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain inventory and support lab organization in alignment with 6S standards
  • Document activities in accordance with good documentation practices and regulatory guidelines
  • Support study setup coordination and cross-functional projects as needed
