Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or a related field, and have at least three years of experience in clinical data quality auditing and coding, with a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. Demonstrated knowledge of hospital coding standards and regulatory requirements is essential, along with experience conducting internal and external audits.
The HIM Clinical Data Quality Auditor and Educator will be responsible for conducting internal audits of hospital coding practices, overseeing external audits, and providing comprehensive training and education to hospital coders. They will also develop and implement a coding compliance plan, participate in system administration maintenance for coding software, and collaborate with other hospital departments to resolve coding issues and ensure accurate account processing. Furthermore, the role involves creating and maintaining coding training resources for the entire team and assisting in the coordination between CDI specialists.
