Your Role at Baxter

This role provides technical expertise in deploying and supporting application platforms, medical devices, and software integration within healthcare environments. You will collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including customer resources and internal clinical and technical professionals. Your responsibilities will include designing, building, and supporting complex healthcare systems interfaces at customer sites. You will work with project teams, clinical users, application subject matter experts, and software vendors to define business and technical requirements, ensuring integrations are properly scoped, engineered, tested, and supported.

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional after-hours and weekend work based on project needs.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide integration with customers’ EMR systems and medical devices.
  • Deploy Baxter’s common architecture platform and software applications directly to customers’ environments.
  • Deploy new interfaces and modifications into production environments, adhering to established change control policies and procedures.
  • Assist in various integration projects, including but not limited to:
    • Inbound/Outbound ADT
    • Orders and Results
    • PCD01/03/04/10
    • Staff Assignments
  • Work directly with external customers and cross-functional teams on the development of system interfaces, including writing detailed interface specifications.
  • Participate in a 24x7 support rotation.
  • Travel up to 25%.

What You'll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experienced in Linux-based operating systems (RedHat, Ubuntu).
    • Experienced in containerization (Dockers, Kubernetes).
    • Up-to-date industry-specific HL7 technical certifications, or a minimum of two years' experience in an HL7 integration role providing onsite and/or remote service.
    • Experience with HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON, and API integration.
    • Familiarity with IHE (PCD) framework and standards.
    • Demonstrated skill working with HL7 interface engines (e.g., Mirth, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Epic Bridges).
    • Scripting language experience (e.g., Python, PHP, JavaScript).
    • PostgreSQL database experience (a plus).
    • Experience working with hospital EMR systems (e.g., Cerner, Meditech, Epic) (a plus).
    • Experience with patient monitoring systems (e.g., GE, Phillips) (a plus).
  • Work Availability: Ability to work evenings, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to work independently and with team members from diverse backgrounds.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization (both within hospitals and with third-party contractors).
    • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
