Head of Analytics

Position Overview

Valon is a company dedicated to empowering homeowners through technology and mortgage servicing. The Analytics team focuses on data transformation, experimentation, KPI definition, and data analysis, utilizing technologies like BigQuery, DBT, Looker, and Hex. This role involves building a dedicated analytics function within Valon Mortgage, responsible for reporting, insights, data products, and supporting data infrastructure, partnering with operational executives and driving positive change. This role may also encompass overseeing business analysis, IT, and business systems management.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in data analysis, reporting, and dashboarding
• Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes
• Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Looker)
• Understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with BigQuery, DBT, and Hex is a plus.
• Ability to work well under changing circumstances

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Build and lead the Valon Mortgage Analytics team.
• Data Infrastructure: Own and maintain the data infrastructure and tool chain.
• KPI Development: Identify and define relevant KPIs and SLAs.
• Operational Dashboarding: Develop operational dashboards, metrics, alerting, and controls.
• Performance Analytics: Orchestrate performance analytics throughout the organization, including developing management frameworks and partnering with teams to conduct time studies and set goals.
• Strategic Planning: Manage headcount models and contribute relevant metrics for strategic planning.
• Reporting: Support client, regulatory, and investor reporting.
• Automation: Build automation tooling and perform light/scrappy development work.
• Operational Management: Oversee operations requirements (potential expansion of role).
