Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, and have at least 7 years of experience in the management of hazardous gases, HAZMAT, or fire services operations. They should demonstrate a strong understanding of ammonia, chlorine, and CO2 handling, storage, and disposal, along with familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations. Strong knowledge of relevant codes, industry standards, and best practices related to process safety design requirements and practices, especially for chemical and flammable processes, is required.
The Hazardous Gases Manager will serve as the company expert regarding the safe and proper use of hazardous gases, manage leaking products, and oversee the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. They will assess the risk of hazardous substances, ensure brewery operations and new projects adhere to industry best practices and PSM, review and approve process changes via the Management of Change (MoC) process, and maintain existing process and design standards. The manager will also work with engineering teams to create and update company construction specifications and standards, provide training to engineering leaders, facilitate Process Hazard Analysis studies, and support ongoing processes involving hazardous gases within breweries, including assisting with EPA’s RMP and OSHA’s PSM. Furthermore, they will manage contractors based on world-leading design standards and provide training and/or training materials as needed.
