Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience
  • DFSS Green Belt certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
  • Ability to exercise highly independent judgment and develop creative solutions with minimal consultation
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans for training, developing, and evaluating employees
  • Manage sled schedule and projections
  • Manage technician site assignments based on need
  • Identify opportunities to improve test capabilities or facilities
  • Identify new areas for learning and take advantage of learning opportunities
  • Participate in the selection of new employees
  • Implement GMS principles
  • Develop and coordinate quality and responsiveness requirements in support of product programs
  • Provide technical support for problem solving
  • Coordinate activities as necessary with other departments and/or groups
  • Initiate and evaluate cost studies as necessary
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding test equipment
  • Establish a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
  • Model and foster desired core values and behaviors
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards and support Lean Process Implementation
  • Create and maintain an environment that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential
  • Develop, produce, and maintain departmental performance metrics
  • Support and develop cross-training and resource sharing with other labs
  • Participate in special projects
  • Utilize technical writing skills and knowledge of critical software applications
  • Stay ahead of current product developments and trends in area of responsibility
  • Share lessons learned with peers and manager
  • Make recommendations based on work completed
  • Lead the sled team and manage resources and equipment to meet VSCL testing requirements
  • Provide guidance to the team using technical knowledge of sled equipment
  • Collaborate with other VSCL teams, Test Systems Engineering (TSE), Global Safety Performance Integration (GSPI), and vendors to ensure quality and responsiveness in sled operations
  • Act as the single point of contact for productivity and accountability in this operation
