Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business. A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or a related business function is required, along with prior experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry and knowledge of government contract accounting, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and FAR/DFARs. Experience with various types of government contracts, including FAR-covered contracts, is also necessary. The role requires the ability to work independently with high judgment and initiative, quickly assimilate new tasks, research and apply accounting and financial reporting standards (GAAP), and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities and learn new skills. Preferred qualifications include CPA or CA certification, public accounting firm experience, SAP proficiency for government contract accounting, excellent communication skills, complex problem-solving abilities, strong project management skills, a strategic perspective, self-motivation, teamwork, and an interest in innovation and technology.
The Senior Analyst will perform technical accounting analysis on emerging transactions and contracts, documenting conclusions in memos and presenting them to leadership. They will identify and operationalize accounting and financial reporting standards, SEC regulations, and government contracting standards (FAR/DFARS including CAS). The role involves evaluating and improving current accounting practices and policies, optimizing SAP ERP solutions, and identifying, interpreting, and analyzing accounting risks. Responsibilities also include supporting the design, testing, and implementation of accounting and reporting processes, systems, and controls for GM Defense, ensuring conformity with SOX, CAS, and FAR/DFAR requirements. The analyst will execute internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial procedures, ensuring financial reporting processes are accurate, timely, and conform to GAAP.
