Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience working in manufacturing or related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of all safety absolutes and policies (e.g., lockout, ESWP)
  • Demonstrated ability to implement GMS principles

Responsibilities

  • Champion safe work practices and drive objectives for ergonomics, health, safety, and housekeeping
  • Maintain and communicate quality standards, leveraging resources to resolve issues promptly
  • Oversee daily General Assembly operations to ensure alignment with plant objectives
  • Manage manpower planning, cost control, and resource allocation
  • Support launch readiness and model changeovers
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements through lean manufacturing principles, focusing on variation reduction, cost control, and productivity improvements
  • Direct departmental manpower planning, including headcount management, vacation scheduling, and roster oversight
  • Monitor KPIs and lead initiatives to improve safety, quality, and throughput
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices and standardized work processes
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Establish systems to prevent recurrence of known issues and ensure adequate job instruction training (JIT)
  • Drive Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and support launch and pilot activities
  • Support and lead TIP Process in General Assembly with Area Director and Shift Leader
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Group Leaders, Team Leaders, and production teams
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Coach and mentor Group Leaders and Team Leaders to build leadership capability
  • Motivate, train, and develop employees to perform effectively using standardized methods
  • Participate in hiring, training, and evaluating employees while building highly effective teams
  • Partner with engineering, maintenance, quality, HR, and other departments to achieve plant objectives
  • Communicate effectively with plant leadership and corporate stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Foster strong relationships with represented employees, UAW leadership, and salaried teams
  • Administer National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in HCC and KRONOS to coach and mentor peers and salaried teams
