Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time onsite in San Diego, CA (rotational days/weekends; no relocation assistance provided)
  • Tolerance for environmental conditions: loud noises, PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs), strong odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products)

Responsibilities

  • Review, comprehend, and comply with all SOPs, guidelines/policies, training, protocols, and quality assurance standards related to assigned responsibilities and laboratory animal care
  • Monitor daily animal health and welfare, performing daily health observations using an assigned iPad or tablet device
  • Perform animal husbandry duties: daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks, provide food and water, cage changing/cleaning, record animal health concerns per SOP/protocols
  • Work closely with Veterinary Staff, assist with animal sample collection and other in vivo procedures as assigned
  • Provide daily service to researchers: ensure study animals receive medicated diet/water and special housing per study protocols; direct communication with researchers as required
  • Perform technical procedures on rodents (e.g., ear tagging, shaving, blood collection, tissue sampling, glucose monitoring, fasting)
  • Dispose of animal carcasses following department SOPs
  • Observe, monitor, and document health and physical environment in the animal facility per AAALAC standards and client SOPs/policies
