Requirements

  • Willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to stand on metal platform for up to 8 hours (100% of shift with breaks)
  • Use of both hands and arms required
  • Ability to lift minimum of 3.5 pounds repetitively up to 6.5 pounds; handle weights over 50 pounds periodically (DOA birds)

  • Tolerate dark/dusty environments
  • Bending, twisting, stooping, and reaching required
  • Wear protective eyewear, bonnets, beard guard, dust mask (if desired), and proper footwear

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve live birds (3.5-6.5 pounds) from conveyor and hang by both legs onto overhead shackle line at shoulder height (16 inches from body), approximately 0.5 per minute
  • Control feed rate of hanging conveyor and flow of birds (for position at end of belt)
  • Transport DOAs and dump onto dead bird take-away conveyor
  • Perform other duties as tasked by administration
  • Operate required equipment (with on-the-job training provided)
