Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • At least 2 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience
  • Graduation from an automotive trade school with diesel engine experience highly desirable
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Obtain Class A CDL within 12 months of entry date into Fleet Technician B classification
  • Obtain Fluid Power Society Certification and two applicable ASE certifications within 24 months of entry date

Responsibilities

  • Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies including troubleshooting, inspecting cables/chains/rods/sheave liners/monitoring system/fiberglass/turntable/pins/bushings/bearings, removing/replacing reduction gearboxes, and load testing boom assemblies
  • Service and repair hydraulic systems including troubleshooting, inspecting/removing/replacing pumps/motors/valves/cylinders/accumulator, and removing/replacing swivel collector block
  • Service and repair heating and ventilation systems including diagnosing A/C issues, pressure testing, leak checking, checking controls, replacing compressor/clutch/seals/refrigerant hose/condenser/receiver dryer/evaporator core
  • Troubleshoot and repair winch assemblies
  • Service and repair steering systems including power steering pump and manual steering gearbox
  • Service and repair air brake systems including air compressors/brake chambers/control valves
  • Service and repair hydraulic and electric braking systems including inspecting/repairing master cylinder, testing power unit/vacuum supply/boost system, and servicing antilock brake system
  • Inspect and service differentials, power dividers, transmission assemblies, manual clutch, manual transmissions, transfer cases, transaxles, and automatic transmissions
  • Service and repair fuel and exhaust systems including computer controls, testing/repairing diesel fuel pump, inspecting/servicing intake/turbo/fuel injection/governors
  • Assist others in diagnosing complex problems
  • Operate Company vehicles and equipment and perform incidental duties
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean/orderly condition
  • Maintain records and submit reports as required
  • Attend/participate in training and assist in training others
  • Perform less skilled work as assigned
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions
  • Assist employees of equal or higher classification
  • Direct work of assigned assisting employees
