The ideal candidate possesses a working knowledge of telecommunications construction techniques and engineering standards, along with experience in fiber construction operations, management, and provisioning. Proven ability to create building, spaces, rooms, racks, panels, cabling, and spliced cables is required, as is the ability to create duct systems, enclosures, splice capsules, trays, cables, and splices. Experience in identifying field issues that impact network design, strong G-Suite skills, and the ability to interface with telecommunications vendors are essential. Excellent verbal, written, and documentation communication skills are also necessary.
This role involves documenting, editing, modifying, and managing fiber optic network assets, including fiber connectivity, routes, and power specifications. Responsibilities include digitizing and recording passive and active network elements, entering and reviewing fiber, duct, and field infrastructure assets using network management software, and validating design drawings by identifying and resolving performance problems. The specialist will enter proposed design changes, ensure field data alignment, and memorialize MAC activity. Duties also include creating OSP/ISP fiber paths and SRs for vendors, documenting data center and global connectivity, ensuring splicing data integrity, analyzing network data to support forecasting and network engineers, and reviewing vendor installation documentation for accuracy. The role also requires creating port reservations for circuit deployments and participating in global 24/7 support, potentially including weekend work.
