Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic exposure to hand tools and equipment from a farming environment
  • 2 years of related farm experience or equivalent experience
  • Basic knowledge of English, math, and the ability to read
  • Good mechanical proficiency
  • Ability to walk up to 2 hours a day
  • Ability to stand up to 8 hours a day
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards
  • Tolerance for fluctuating temperatures (hot/cold), loud noises, strong odors, various outside weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for full shift and work with hazardous/toxic materials
  • Willingness to wear PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Feeding animals daily and provide care as needed
  • Setting up equipment for bleeding, maneuver animals into shoots, bleed animals as needed, and clean area thoroughly
  • Assisting with general farm upkeep of fence lines, drainage ditches, lawn, house/farm repairs including minor electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Providing basic feed and upkeep for animals on a weekend rotation basis
  • Operating company vehicles and machinery such as tractors, truck, and loader
  • Checking farm for safety and security as needed
  • Using hand-held machinery, such as grinder, drill, and weed eater for routine farm upkeep
  • Reporting any actual or potential safety hazards to the Supervisor, Human Resources, Safety Specialist, or Senior Management
  • Maintaining farm property, equipment, and facilities
  • Caring for farm animals, particularly sheep
