Requirements

Candidates should have 4+ years of dedicated backend or platform experience, 4+ years of specialization in storage technologies, 8+ years of experience total, deep technical background in performance optimization for DBs (preferably SQL DBs), and experience deploying and orchestrating DBs at scale. Familiarity with infrastructure tools like Terraform and AWS, and database knowledge including TiDB, MySQL, and MongoDB are also required, along with experience building custom CLI tooling and dynamic runbooks to automate procedures.

Responsibilities

As an engineer on the storage team, you will have the opportunity to influence the strategy of the team and design, deploy, and scale the online storage platform at Plaid. You will build tools to improve operational automations, optimize query performance and infrastructure cost, and partner with stakeholder teams to understand their storage requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for designing resilient, distributed systems, handling ambiguity of challenging problems, fixing difficult issues in storage engines, and performing meticulous and reliability-focused migrations to save product engineers time and effort.
