Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience operating various equipment, including haul trucks, water trucks, loaders, graders, dozers, excavators, blast hole drills, forklifts, and a screen plant; ability to easily learn other mine equipment
  • Valid California driver’s license (must have and maintain)
  • Ability to work overtime if needed
  • Ability to be ATF Cleared and work with and around explosives
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, squat, and climb ramps & stairs
  • Understanding of safety protocols and operational efficiency
  • Ability to interpret varying ore grades and make decisions on allocation to storage areas
  • Proficiency in basic maintenance tasks such as fueling and minor repairs
  • Willingness to cross-train on alternative equipment

Responsibilities

  • Operate various heavy equipment as needed to meet production demands
  • Establish and sustain specified grade levels (e.g., level surfaces to 2%, 8%, 10%) as directed by the mine supervisor
  • Construct drainage infrastructure (e.g., drainage ditches, retention basins, French drains, sump ponds) when required
  • Execute basic mining projects, including ore control from extraction to separation
  • Maintain detailed records of production loads, ore descriptions, locations, daily tasks, and work permits
  • Perform comprehensive pre-shift inspections of equipment
  • Maintain optimal ore grades and appropriate berm heights
  • Maintain Elementis safety culture, report near misses and incidents to mine supervisor, mine manager, and HSE manager
  • Perform ancillary duties as necessary
