Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Speak, read, and write in English (bilingual English/Spanish preferred)
  • Knowledge of fruit, fruit quality, and grade characteristics (plus, not required)
  • Good problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Basic mathematical skills (understand ratios, minimums, maximums, percentages)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work setting
  • Operator III profile book completed at least 70%
  • Compliant on results gatekeeper
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to continuously walk up and down stairs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Available to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required
  • Maintain excellent attendance
  • Ability to be cross-trained in all production areas/processes (from wash to pack)
  • Operator level 3 on all pre-sorting equipment
  • Understanding of Oracle WMS System
  • Global Quality knowledge and support
  • Team organization (5S)/Cleanliness/SOPs/LOTO

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, clean, repair, and operate fruit packaging equipment (bagger, box former, bin wash, bin filler, bin tipper, palletizer, fruit sizer)
  • Train and coach others in troubleshooting, cleaning, repair, and operation of equipment
  • Perform proper setup and safe operation of equipment
  • Execute all necessary start-up/shutdown procedures, cleaning, and troubleshooting for accurate equipment operation
  • Maintain daily operator log book (document observations, downtime, machine adjustments)
  • Monitor product quality and make adjustments as necessary
  • Perform material and product changeovers within allotted time
  • Maintain electronics and hardware in clean, good operating condition
  • Continuously monitor performance metrics and make adjustments to correct deviations and reduce/avoid downtime
  • Use computer programs to reflect inventory and print labels
  • Hand off work area to next shift in expected condition
  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts (Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Sustainability)
  • Engage in identifying safety and food safety hazards (GMP audits, Critical Behavior Observations, sanitation checks)
  • Execute company and mission goals while prioritizing employee and food safety
  • Work closely with reliability team to identify machine/software issues/root causes and propose solutions
  • Other duties as assigned
