Engineering Manager, Payments

Candidates should have over 8 years of software engineering experience with a focus on low latency, distributed systems, and at least one year of experience in managing teams. Strong computer science fundamentals are required, along with experience in designing and building REST APIs, high volume distributed systems, Kafka event streams, and distributed data storage systems such as Cassandra or similar. Familiarity with GCP or AWS, docker, Kubernetes, and Java or Kotlin is necessary, as well as exposure to operational tooling like New Relic and Datadog.
The Engineering Lead will lead a team of engineers, set goals, and provide feedback and development plans. They will work closely with product managers to define the product roadmap and prioritize projects for incremental production. The role includes developing REST services within a backend microservices architecture, conducting architectural reviews, addressing technical debt, and enhancing operational effectiveness. Additionally, contributing to the hiring, training, and development of team engineers is expected.
