Candidates must be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, have completed at least their freshman year, and have a graduation date of December 2026 or later. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and eligible for full-time employment without sponsorship, OPT, or CPT. A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred, along with excellent communication and time management skills, and an interest in the electric utility sector, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
Engineering interns will collaborate with project teams and engineers on planning, designing, and executing enterprise resource projects, and engage in design reviews, training, and constructability assessments. Interns will also participate in field visits to operational facilities for inspections and tests, assist in developing and analyzing databases, reports, cost estimates, and dashboards, and support documentation for decision-making processes. Additionally, interns will embrace AEP's safety culture and expand their engineering skills by taking on new challenges.
