Requirements

BS in mechanical engineering from an accredited university preferred
Minimum of 8 years of chemical plant experience preferred
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong work planning and organizational skills
Ability to satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing, and pre-employment physical requirements
Current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, talk/hear; occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally; specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Ability to work in moderate noise office environment and operating units requiring PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection), exposure to outside elements, and use of stairs/elevators

Responsibilities

Participate in morning line-up and routine scheduling meetings
Coordinate with OMC, Planners, and Reliability Engineer to schedule maintenance work
Ensure machinery, systems, infrastructure, and equipment run optimally with minimal downtime
Conduct and oversee maintenance process audits; establish maintenance procedures and protocols
Conduct weekly audits of field equipment
Modify and maintain SMPs
Work with Reliability Engineers in Fixed & Rotating groups to determine equipment care strategies
Work with Planners to refine task lists within PMs
Train staff on equipment operating and maintenance procedures
Enforce usage of SMPs
Respond to equipment emergencies with technical support
Work hands-on with Westlake Maintenance representatives to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Communicate daily with Reliability Engineer and Maintenance about equipment issues
Create notifications of field audit findings and document failure modes (e.g., 5-Why)
Document repair events in Meridium to track failures over time
Provide Maintenance Q/C technical support
Update and maintain status of equipment sent out for repairs
Communicate with Reliability Engineer about equipment changes for entry into Meridium
Predict and strategize for system overhauls and upgrades, considering maintenance budgets and expenditures
Work with Maintenance & Operations Superintendent to manage maintenance budget, set and track maintenance KPIs
Aid in development and improvement of preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance programs with Reliability Engineer
Work with Reliability Engineer to analyze and update equipment BOMs, set up critical spare assemblies and spare parts in the warehouse
