Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or related Engineering
  • Six to eight (6-8) years of experience in similar role
  • CAD Software (Solid Works, AutoCad, Catia)
  • Injection mold design and operation (conventional, hot runner, multiple cavities, etc.)
  • Injection processes (parameters, cycles)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the design, procurement, testing, and validation of new injection molds
  • Coordinate and monitor preventive and corrective mold maintenance
  • Analyze recurring failures and propose improvements to increase tool life
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities related to molds and processes
  • Perform mold flow analysis and interpret results for optimization
  • Collaborate with process engineering to establish optimal injection parameters
  • Ensure molds meet dimensional and quality specifications
  • Document changes or modifications made to molds (technical history)
  • Coordinate major repairs or modifications with external suppliers
  • Manage the approval of new molds (T0, T1, PPAP, etc.)
  • Act as a representative of the new product and cross-functional teams to help design and coordinate the acquisition of tooling, fixtures, and test equipment
  • Work closely with the purchasing department to ensure suppliers are involved as early as possible in the design of new products
  • Provide technical skills in tooling design evaluation, problem resolution, cost control, and quality control
  • Select suppliers for new mold manufacturing
  • Audit mold suppliers, adhering to delivery schedules for new/modified tooling and mold replacement and maintenance
  • Estimate lead times for new/modified tooling and tool replacement and maintenance
  • Participate in the preparation of cost estimates and information on tooling used by project teams
  • Identify and apply new tooling processes and technologies for efficiency and cost reduction
  • Act as a liaison between the tool shop, suppliers, materials, and product development teams to ensure effective communication and problem resolution
  • Perform mold validation and transfer
  • Perform engineering modifications to molds based on drawings
  • Monitor the activity of external suppliers by providing precise instructions and evaluating their quality and effectiveness
  • Determine the frequency and preventive maintenance activities for each mold to ensure its performance in production
